2's slip to 2 run defeat

The 2's found themselves pipped off the last ball by 2 runs in 230 run chase thriller at Station Rd. Halesowen’s depleted attack stood strong in the face of some hard-hitting from the K&D batters as Andy Roberts (2-40) plus 1 wicket apiece for Chris Jones, Carl Bust and Richard Cox who all battled to keep the run rate down in the closing overs. In reply a steady start escalated rapidly with Mohammad Shauib (64) and Richard Cox (51) together as they began to pick off the K&D attack at will. When Shuaib departed with 50 needed off 9 overs it was all to play for. A sprightly 35* from Tom Williams nearly saw the side to victory. With 15 needed off the final over Williams dispatched the first ball for 6 but then couldn’t see the side over the line as K&D bowler Baker proved too accurate and Halesowen fell agonisingly 2 runs short and slip to 8th in the table.
