The 1's topsy turvey season continued with a thumping victory over nearby arch rivals Stourbridge CC. Batting first Halesowen clocked up a massive 336-7 and in reply Stourbridge were rolled out for just 184 to leave Hales with an 152 run victory. Stand in Captain Wes Griffiths said ‘It was a great performance, we'd been poor for a few weeks so we needed to change things up a bit and the extra positivity really paid off. Will Barrett (127) was exceptional and got us off to a great start with the bat, that allowed the rest of the side to play with some freedom.
Getting so many on the board allowed us to attack with the ball and Dylan Ross-Watt (2-33) bowled with pace and aggression and out Stourbridge on the back foot. We chipped in with wickets through the innings, Masharraf Shazad (3-63) bowled brilliantly to back up his fireworks with the bat (42*) at the end of our innings and Will Barrett (3-14) completed a great day by getting the last couple of wickets to get us all 24 points! Some big games coming up so hopefully this will give us some momentum!'
