Saturday 3rd XI

Worcester County Cricket League
Division 5 1st XI

Halesowen CC 3rd XI is a fun team to play for.

The third team is where young cricketers can hone their skills alongside more seasoned cricketers before making the step up to the 2nd and ultimately 1st team.

Our fixtures in Division 5 of the Worcestershire League are against a mixture of other clubs’ first and third teams so this gives an ideal chance for players to feel the competitive atmosphere of more experienced cricket first hand.

We play our home games at the ECG (Earls Cricket Ground) which is a compact yet tranquil setting close to the heart of Halesowen in the grounds of Earls High School, the old Halesowen Grammar School.

In 2011 I fully expect to see recent graduates of the team play an important part in the more senior sides within the club. Charlie Tromans, Phil Croft, Kester Moseley, Cameron Mapstone, Jamie Wodhouse and George Hill to name but a few. However, it is encouraging to note that the winner of the Kennelers (as the 3rd team used to be known) bowling award 1987 graduated to 2nd then 1st team cricket and is now 2nd team captain. He will make it back to us (again) one day!
