Division 4 2nd XI

You either begin or you finish your career in this team. Playing for the 4^th team is about fun and enjoyment but never losing the competitive edge. We like to see ourselves as the nurturing ground for the 1^st team cricketers of tomorrow. We are made up of 50% youth player from under 12 upwards and 50% of various ages including those in the 50+ bracket. Our home games are played at the Earls High School Cricket Ground and we already have a number of players that have come through the school ranks to play for us.

For the first time this year we can be promoted independently of our 3^rd team compatriots. We therefore hope to use this as motivation to play in a league higher by advancing to league Div 4 at the end of the season.

As captain of the team, I rely on others to tell me what to do. Having played cricket for only 18 months, the learning process is a slow one. I have however realised that being in charge is more to do with giving lifts, feeding people and being an agony aunt more than it is understanding cricket.

We look forward to the 2011 season and hope that it brings success, fun and new friendships that continue beyond the Cricket field.
