Shropshire batsman joins from Bridgnorth

We are pleased to unveil our latest winter signing as we go in search of further honors in the 2019 season. After narrowly finishing 5th and just a handful of points off the promotion spots in the ECB Birmingham and District Premier Cricket League Division 1 in 2018 the club are looking to strengthen their quest for higher status in the 2019 season and have signed batsman Ryan Lockley (25) from Bridgnorth CC.

Lockley who also plays for Shropshire in the ECB Minor Counties Championship will bat in the top order following some eye catching performances in recent seasons. He has a career-best Shropshire score of 117 against Devon and has previously played his club cricket for Ludlow, Whitchurch and Bridgnorth. Lockley has been a consistent run scorer in all forms of Cricket accumulating over 8,000 runs since 2007 whilst scoring 8 league hundreds.

Captain Alexei Kervezee said “Ryan and I play together for Shropshire and I know he is an exciting cricketer who will add to our top order line up alongside our other new signing from Wolves Ram Jaswal. He scored a well-compiled hundred against Halesowen in the 2018 season which was an impressive feat on a long hot day. We think he will be the final piece of the batting jigsaw next season now that Kester Moseley has decided to play for his local club, Bath CC, in 2019 as well as Hassan Qaumi who will be unavailable for large chunks of the season. We are looking forward to seeing Ryan continue his development in recent seasons.’

Lockley commented “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Halesowen, it’s the right time for me to move out of Shropshire club cricket and test myself in a new environment on a surface that I really enjoyed batting on last year. It’s also great having Alexei in the team as we play together for Shropshire and also knowing the people in the background of the club on the admin and coaching side was a big draw for me. Really looking forward to it.’
