Chris Jones has been named the new 3rd XI captain, being chosen to replace Carl Bust who was the official 3rd team captain in 2017.

The 27 year old seamer has played 187 senior games of cricket at Halesowen, taking over 200 wickets in the process. Chris has been at the club since he was ten years old and has a wealth of first and second team experience.

The cricket committee had identified that the third team needed bringing in line with modern day match day preparation to make progression from the third team to the second team as seamless as possible, and feel that Chris Jones is the outstanding candidate for the role.

“It’s a huge honour to be given the captaincy,” Jones said “I feel privileged and very excited to have been appointed. I’ve been at Halesowen a long time, and I feel with the experience I have, the time is right for me to step up and help lead what is usually a very talented, and hungry third eleven.”

“It's where I started my adult cricket journey and I know the importance it has in preparing players for higher levels within the club. We have a great blend of exciting youth and knowledgeable experienced players which can hopefully come together to achieve something special in 2018 following the foot steps of the 1st, 2nd & 4th teams."

Chairman Richard Evans added “It’s absolutely brilliant to be able to appoint someone with Chris’ experience into the role as third team captain. We wanted someone with first and second team experience to do the job and Chris will also bring the perfect attitude to the role. Chris was our number one choice for the captaincy since the middle of the 2017 season, and we wish him all the best!
